Voices Magazine has always been about finding the people in the world who are living their dreams. We show those dreams to other people who are lost, or just want to read about something refreshing. This is all in hopes that some person might realize a dream that they never knew they had. Well if the following two people don't exemplify what, "Living the Dream" is, well then no-one can.
In this world people like us need to stick together, because the government is coming in and has been taking away freedoms for years. But more-so than ever the walls are closing in and all of us need to be there for each other when that happens. So in the meantime we might as well get to know each other and enjoy all of the differences that each of us bring to the table. Whether it's a mohawk, a full sleeve of tats, or just being able to do what you want, we all want that freedom. We all want to do whatever it is that makes us who we are. You shouldn't care if the stupid "threat level" for terrorism has been raised to purple. People should be bonding together to make this world a better place, not a place where people are stamped with microchips like drones or robots. We are human, and the basic need of every human is not to work in a cubicle, or have to be told what to do. It is to have freedom, even if you have to give your life for it.
People like Mr. & & Mrs. Inkaholik embody the natural way of the human spirit. They have found a lifestyle that fits them and they have poured their passion, hopes and dreams into becoming what THEY want to become. They are not led around by a leader...........they are their own leaders. The proof is on their skin and in the way they wear their hair, it is how they project themselves onto society.
Some people might take a quick glance and are filled with fear or automatically pass judgment, and at the same time those same people swear that they are righteous. Those people are wrong. The free are out there, walking around the Earth like a living canvas. They alter their bodies for many reasons. For some it's to remember a person or thing, for others they simply just like decorating their body. Whatever the reason, it is only important to the person it belongs to. For all the rest of the world, it is our own responsibility to find out what makes us who we are. Then just sit back and soak it all in.
So...let's do that right now.
We begin with the Mizuz....ladies first.
Alkatraz:
How did you and Johnny (Mr. Inkaholik) meet?
Mizuz Inkaholik:
We actually met on MySpace, But our first true meeting was at a costume party. (I was dressed as a dominatrix) ?
Alkatraz:
How long have you been a model?
Mizuz Inkaholik:
I just started modeling professionally in the past year. I have been modeling off and on for about 13 years. I had a professional shoot from a really great photographer and friend of ours (Jason Self) and Johnny sat in on it and took some photos. He loved it. We went straight out and invested in our own lights and camera. We now have a studio set up in our house. Backdrops and all.
Alkatraz:
List for us please, ten things you love and ten things you hate.Mizuz Inkaholik:

The camera
Gore, anything with blood and horror
Playing pool
My Mom and Dad
Sleeping late
Sushi
Really close friends
Hate:
Rude people
Ignorant people (a lot of people are very uneducated about the body modification world) Do not stereotype me because I decide to decorate myself with beautiful art.
Roaches (I am very afraid)
Closed minds
Haters. I don't understand what all the hate is about.
Really drunk people that think they are cute or funny.
People that ride other peoples coattail. If you cant make it on your own, maybe you arent supposed to make it.
Rock star attitudes. We are all human
People just touching my tattoos. You can look with your eyes. Please ask before you touch.
That I dont have 10 things that I hate. lol
Alkatraz:
What age did you get you first tattoo, and what was it?Mizuz Inkaholik:
I was 17 and its an anklet I picked straight off the wall.Alkatraz:
It's obvious to see what types of things you might be into based on your pictures, but what else makes up who you are?Mizuz Inkaholik:
I read a lot. Really what I am all about is expanding the horizons on modeling and the stereotype of how women should look. My outlook is everyone CAN be beautiful it is you that makes that choice. It is my opinion that beauty is in all shapes, sizes, and colors. ?Alkatraz:
What do you say, or what would you like to say to people out there who see your photos and they are shocked because of them, maybe even scared? Does it even bother you at all?Mizuz Inkaholik:
Bother me? Hmmmmmm. No, I wouldnt say it would bother me if they were shocked or afraid. I want to entertain people with my photos. I would say they are very entertaining no matter what feeling you get when you look at them. They are all just photos. Props, fake blood. (well, most of it anyway)Alkatraz:
How does/did your family react to the evolving person you are?Mizuz Inkaholik:
My parents are very supportive and loving. They know that I am a great person on the inside. I am just more colorful on the outside. ?Alkatraz:
The back piercings you have...is there a name for that type of work? And also what was that like getting it done?
Mizuz Inkaholik:
It is called a corset piercing. For me they are just play piercings (which means that I do them just for photos or for a show and then remove them) Its very intense, I love having them done. The procedure for this particular corset I had was approximately 3 hours from start to finish:1.Prep. (mark off piercings, clean area)
Pierce. (14 needles 7 on each side)
Put in Jewelry. (slide the needles out and place in jewelry)
Clean Up. (yes, there is blood)
Lace up. (ribbon of your choice. On this one I used black velvet)
Photos. (By Johnny Jackson)
Piercing removal. (Yes,I took them right out)
Alkatraz:
I know some people have a theme to their tattoo's, something that they want to stick with, do you have one? What types of tattoo's do you have?Mizuz Inkaholik:
I do not have a theme to all of them. I have themes in sections. My right sleeve is devoted to female horror. I have Baby from House of 1000 corpses. I have 9 hrs into this one, 7 hours in the first sitting. My left sleeve is my day of the dead sleeve. I have a bride, a groom, a skull with a snake going thru it and a skull rose morph. This sleeve is almost done. I have about 25 hours into this one. Of course I will have a theme to my back piece (not started yet). I have over 75 hours of ink. I just like great art. The styles I like the most would be neo-traditional and horror/gore portraits.?
Alkatraz:
Often times in our society it seems that guys are more or less Ok to have numerous tattoo's, but when women do it they seem to catch flack from their own sex. Why is this?Mizuz Inkaholik:
Ignorance plays a huge role in anyone acting out. Just like when we were kids, we know who the bullys were, they were never the smart ones. Hahahaha You dont see as many women heavily tattooed, not as often as you do men. It is all still new to society. I am hoping to change that with putting myself and other beautiful tattooed women further into the public eye.Alkatraz:
What do you see changing around you?Mizuz Inkaholik:
Wow, society accepting body modifications more and more, thru the help of reality shows and media frenzy. I do not totally agree with all of it, but I do think it is helping to educate the public. At least people becoming inspired more.?
Alkatraz:
What goals do you have for the future, in regards to modeling?
Mizuz Inkaholik:
I am collaborating with a couple of film directors. One as a serial killer and the other role is a gang member. I really want to get into movies more and music videos. We will continue to take awesome original photos and see where it goes from there.
Alkatraz:
If you could only have one hairstyle for the rest of you life what would it be?Mizuz Inkaholik:
My Mohawk. Ive had it for years. I see more and more people wearing them now too. This makes me happy!
Alkatraz:
What were you like as a child? What influenced you to gravitate towards...let's say a darker side of things?
Mizuz Inkaholik:
I was a very nice outgoing child, very much like I am now. I think everyone has a dark side.Alkatraz:
How do you feel about Bush and all that has been going on with his presidency?Mizuz Inkaholik:
I am not a supporter, I did not vote for him. I am in no way shape or form to be associated with that bad decision, either time. ?
Alkatraz:
The government has been planning to implement a system called Real I.D. and they want to have people carry these cards with microchips in them. It is scheduled for May 2008, as congress has already approved it. What will you do if they make it mandatory to carry that card?Mizuz Inkaholik:
I will do as they say. I do not agree with it, but you said mandatory!Alkatraz:
Anything else you would like to say, promote, etc?Mizuz Inkaholik:
Dont hate me because my tattoos are beautiful. Also Check out:
