Welcome to voicesmagazine.org the website that shadows Voices Magazine. Our magazine was created to fill a void that has been left by the mass media. Our editor "Alkatraz" watched as mainstream magazines and newspapers warp the truth based on what is called "talking points." These media outlets which are owned by a handful of corporations leave no room for others to seek and share the truth. They only shape culture based on what a handful of others want to see. This is not right and it needs to be challenged.

Voices Magazine allows all types of people to be a part of this publication by becoming a staff member or featured artist. We offer an easy way to get your message out. Whether you are in a band, or shape metal into art, we are here for you. We are currently looking for people around the world to grace our pages and help to continue the true tradition of the free press.

Voices Magazine started out as an underground publication in high school. I wanted to stir shit up at my high school and what better way then to start shoving flyers into peoples lockers? So I started doing this, secretly of course and soon enough I was doing this more and more until i was caught by a friend. She had come over to my house and she saw on my computer some of the content that was in these "flyers".

From there, other students heard about it and a few close friends began to come up with ideas for me to use for the publication. The page numbers were growing each issue and also the content was changing a bit too. People were using the publication as a way to shout out to friends and others. A lot of the content was inside jokes that only a few might understand, the rest was really ramblings from various people.

I never though while this was going on that I could shape this publication into a real full color magazine. I was doing this to blow of steam, bitch about the school and really just to have something to do. So I did 16 issues while in high school with varying success. It wasn't until my mid 20's that I dug up some boxes while moving that contained the original issues.

I had to resurrect this publication and see where it could lead me. I really had no idea where to go, but I knew the internet would allow me to connect with a larger audience and possibly find the old supporters from my high school. It proved to be very difficult but I found a huge audience waiting for a publication that they could become a part of. I now have put out three issues that are full color and have most recently featured in the pages, some of the most influential people of new culture.
